Accessibility, Equality and Inclusion

At Diseworth C of E Primary School, we are committed to working together to provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive and nuturing environment in which our whole school community is able to be the best they can be and reach their full potential.

The Equality Act 2010, is an important law which ensures protection from discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of specific characteristics (referred to as protected characteristics). This means that schools cannot discriminate against pupils, staff, parents and carers or treat them less favourably because of their gender, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual identity or pregnancy or maternity.

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to have due regard for the need to:

• Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
• Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
• Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who don't.

Inclusion

Diseworth C of E Primary School is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all the children in our school.  We believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs, have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum, which is accessible to them, and that all children should be fully included in all aspects of school life.

We believe that all children should be equally valued in school.  We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe.
