All staff are excellent at dealing with incidents or fall outs that happen - because they know the children as individuals.
Breakfast club staff are a credit to the school. So caring and professional.
There is good individualised learning/teaching in place to meet the needs of students.
Over the last few years, we have reviewed and developed our curriculum. We have worked hard to design a broad and balanced, knowledge based curriculum that meets the needs of all of our children. The aim of our curriculum is to ‘Broaden horizons’ to improve children’s life chances so that they become true citizens of the modern world.
As a school, we have chosen 3 drivers to underpin and shape our curriculum, embedding the aims and values of our school, and to respond to the particular needs of our community. Our selected drivers are designed to ensure that pupils are personally successful independent thinkers and learners who can develop and master key knowledge and skills and embed a love of learning whilst embracing new opportunities and overcoming challenges.
These drivers are:
To value and respect the world and communities they are part of. To have respect for other peoples’ beliefs and show respect to everyone regardless of who they are. To promote and celebrate diversity.
To value their own self worth, empathise with others and make a positive contribution to our community. To make the right choices and understand right from wrong.
To have creative minds and encourage imaginative thinking, whilst improving confidence, self-esteem and individuality.
The curriculum at Diseworth consists of a mixture of project based learning, mini themes and stand alone lessons. Learning is explored and developed in meaningful and engaging ways to ensure it is active and reflective.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we believe that every child is unique and strive to provide an enabling environment that is nurturing and inclusive. We believe that all children should celebrate their diversity and embrace differences. We foster positive relationships in which all children learn to be resilient, independent, confident and self-assured, secure and valued.
The EYFS curriculum at Diseworth is broad and balanced and accessible for every child.
