We are very happy with how our child has settled into school.
I just wanted to say a huge huge Thank you for all the effort and work you all put into the nativity performance. It was honestly just the best thing!
We chose Diseworth C of E School because there is swimming every week. This is great - an important life skill.
All parents are very welcome to join this group which is lively, hardworking, and good fun. It consists of parents, staff and the local Diseworth village community. It’s aims are to organise activities to support the school and to promote good relationships between home, school, and community. FODS welcomes any new members who have an association with the school or the local Diseworth community.
FODS is a registered charity with the Charity Commission and the Fundraising Regulator and they work really hard to enhance the profile of FODS and build their financial reserves. Their goal is to be able to fund all extra-curricular activities and provide the school with much needed additional funding, but we need help to achieve this!
They formally adopted the Constitution on 12 September 2016. FODS has a formal constitution charitable objective, but it’s aims are simply to advance the education of pupils in the school by:
The full Constitution can be located here.
The local businesses are hugely supportive of FODS and have played and continue to play a significant role in raising the profile and supporting FODS with fundraising activities by providing grants, event sponsorships, and raffle prizes.
FODS has a membership to Parentkind which is an official membership association for PTAs in schools. To find out more, please visit the Parent kind website here.
FODS supports the School by providing funding for facilities, equipment, and fun activities for the children that the school recognises a need to enhance the children’s education and school experience. Most recently FODS have helped by supplying funds for new reading challenge books and shelves for each classroom. They have previously raised funds for the new climbing frames in the school playing field, a new library area, classroom renovations and they always help towards funding buses to go on lots of trips, including a Christmas theatre and music competition trips as well as all the other items that are on the schools much needed, never-ending wish list! All money raised goes back into the school for the children to benefit from.
FODS organises several events a year including an annual Christmas Fayre and Summer Fayre and both events are always a resounding success - last year raising over £2,000 at the Summer Fayre alone!! They also organise lots of fun activities including rounders matches, welly races plus lots MORE FUN FAMILY EVENTS!
FODS have a vibrant, fun, and informative Facebook page please follow to find out more about events and activities and when Committee Meetings are scheduled to take place. Please note, this is a FODS committee run page and not managed by school staff.
Here's a message from FODS:
We hope that parents will continue to support FODS activities in whatever way they can. If you wish to take a more active role and join as a committee member, you will be more than welcome! Notices are displayed on the FODS Facebook page and the school notifications as to when meetings are held as well as regular items and requests for help appearing in the school newsletters.
FODS are always looking for new members, you do not have to commit to attend every meeting or event even just a couple of hours once a year can make a big difference! If you would like to get involved, then please get in touch: you will be made to feel very welcome!
The school parent/teachers’ association is about more than just fundraising, we are good fun and not just about cake sales…..we promise!
All these activities need your help and support, especially if you have a talent for anything, particularly charity fundraising. FODS is run by a relatively small number of people. They have an effective committee but are always in need of extra hands to help and fresh ideas. Please keep your eye on the school noticeboard, school newsletters, the Facebook page, and the school website.
