Breakfast club staff are a credit to the school. So caring and professional.
We are very happy with how our child has settled into school.
I am very happy with the care, attention and teaching that my children receive at this school. Thank you to all the staff who work together as a team to provide the best possible opportunities and experiences for them.
If you follow these simple steps, you may notice that your child will find it easier to read with phonics:
1. Learn the sounds yourself for each letter of the alphabet so you can get your child to practise.
2. Read with your child every day and get them to sound out the words they find difficult to read.
3. Make sure your child understands what they read. You can encourage them to retrieve information (e.g. ‘What has just happened?’) or questions that infer meaning (e.g. ‘Why do you think the character is hiding?’)
4. Re-read familiar books and point out the progress your child has made since last reading them.
5. Play the part: use big voices, whispers when reading to your child. Take turns to make reading joyful and interactive.
