We chose Diseworth C of E School because of the village environment. It is a small friendly school which is part of the community.
It is wonderful to see all staff happy and smiling whilst the school is going through positive changes of new leadership and staff changes.
All staff know our children. their strengths, needs and weaknesses. We feel happy and secure leaving our children at school every morning.
At Diseworth Primary School, we feel the pupils really benefit from being members of school teams. It gives the children a strong sense of responsibility and belonging; it helps develop opportunities for all children across the school to work together, encourages children to support each other and provides them with additional activities to take part in.
There are four school houses, which the pupils are allocated into as soon as they enter the school. The School Council chose the following names for our house teams:
Each house has a captain who is elected at the beginning of each academic year. Staff are also allocated to a house and one of our members of staff are chosen to lead each house. Each house choses a charity that they will support each academic year.
There is a house point system with a cup awarded at the end of each half term. This is linked to our behaviour system. House points are awarded for various reasons including good behaviour throughout the school day, achievements, resilience and perseverance etc... Any member of staff can award house points.
House points are recorded on a classroom chart. At the end of each week, the captains collate all of the points for their houses and keep a running total on the display board in the school hall. The house which has the most points at the end of every half term gets the cup, with their ribbon, for the following half term.
